Feather Clip Tutorial (Snap Clips)

Hey guys! So here is the way I made my feather clip using a snap clip. I didn’t follow a manual or a tutorial on how to make it; I just kinda did whatever and hoped for the best haha ^_^; Well now, without further ado, here is my tutorial (or more correctly, my way of making it). Warning: this tutorial is picture heavy [as are most of my tutorials >.<]
So let us begin!
First, I got my supplies together: feathers, safety pin, string, metal wire, pliers, a snap clip, and beads/trinkets (optional).
The feather that I used was one that I got from my brother that he came home with after pirates day or Indian day or something at school. This feather is a pretty large one( being a little bigger than an unsharpened pencil.)

So first thing I did was poke the tip of the feather with the safety pin. Word of advice: be careful when you poke the hole; the plasticy tip may break/crack so just be careful.

Next, I took my metal wire, shaped it into a U shape, and stuck it through the hole! (THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID! haha! jkjk! You know you were thinking it too o.-) Then I made the two ends of the wire meet and got this:

Now, in order for the string that will be attached to the metal loop not to fall out, I moved the opening of the loop (as seen here:
)into the feather tip (as shown here:
)Ok now, place you feather down for a bit and pick up your string.
[For the length of the string, I apologize for not taking the measurement as I just found the piece of string laying around in my room and decided to use it for what it was >.<]
So, I folded my string in half

and looped it onto the metal loop on feather like so:

As of now, you should have a feather with a metal loop at its end with a piece of string attached to it.
This is the optional beading part. Just take some beads and loop them into the string!
I choose some gold, brown, and tan beads that I thought would complement the red feather and two red trinkets I got from a pair of earrings I recon-ed.

Ok! So now for the attaching to the snap clip. Not all snap clips are the same, but I figure you can start out like this since all snap clips are capable of this step:

I just tied it however and ended up with this. Just tie it however you want as long as you know its secure.

and Voila! You’re done!

OH! and if your clip is as evil as mine and takes hold of your hair so that when you try to take it off, it rips your hair out and cause your head to ache, then follow the “read more” link and I’ll show you how you can fix that! ^____^b
OK KIDS! For those Evil-Hair-Ripping Clips, I have a tip that you can use to put those nasty boogers in their place! MUAHAHHAHA!!!
You see where that arrow is pointing? Yea, that’s the gap in which your hair gets entangled in! oh that evil, conniving gap of pain…..

Well PAIN BE GONE!!! Just take a hot glue gun and glue that gap up! MUAHHA!!! YESS!!! >:]

Now, I’m sure you can make it look more presentable than I have done in the picture above, but it still works and no one can see it anyways since it gonna be in your hair so EH, WHATEVER! I’m taking the lazy way out haha! XP

So I just finish making these feather clip things (I’m not sure what exactly they’re called) and I do have a tutorial for both so stay tuned! >.<
